ADHD Assessment

What is ADHD and Why Consider an Assessment?

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that impacts attention, self-regulation, and impulse control. It is often grouped into three presentations: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, or a combination of both.

Common signs of ADHD include:

  • Struggling to focus or becoming easily distracted.

  • Hyperactivity or constant restlessness.

  • Acting impulsively without considering consequences.

An ADHD assessment can help clarify challenges, build self-awareness, and inform strategies for managing daily life. It can also provide access to support such as academic adjustments, workplace accommodations, or NDIS funding.

Why Consider an Assessment?

Seeking an assessment for ADHD is a positive step towards understanding yourself or your loved one better. It provides a clearer picture of strengths and challenges, validates experiences, and opens doors to targeted support and interventions that can significantly improve quality of life.

At Level One Psychology, we use the following assessment tools including:

  • Conners scales, CAARS (Conners’ Adult ADHD Rating Scales), BRIEF-2 (Behaviour Rating Inventory of Executive Function), and BRIEF-A for adults.

These tools ensure a thorough, evidence-based evaluation tailored to individual needs.
