Barb Gonda

Counselling Psychologist

Barb is a psychologist who is also a member of the College of Counselling Psychologists with the Australian Psychologists Society. She comes from a background of nursing, of being in the Royal Australian Navy and for the last 25 years working in psychotherapeutic settings.


Her counselling expertise focuses around working with people who have experienced trauma, past, present and in childhood; depression; grief; stress; loss and anxiety. Barb can also assist with working through life transitions.


A lot of Barb's experience as a psychologist  has been with first responders. She has deployed to coordinate peer support to the disaster sites around Queensland for the last 12 years. In the last 7 years she has complimented this with her work in private practice. 


Barb's other passions include growing her own food, gardening, wildlife and the environment, the arts, travel, being creative and movies.

Barb is qualified with a Masters in Social Science (Counselling) from QUT; Masters in Gestalt Therapy (Bris); Bachelor of Arts with majors in Visual Arts and Psychology (Deakin); Graduate Diploma Counselling (UNE); Grad Dip in Soc Sc (QUT) and a Grad Cert in Prof Ethics and Governance (Griffith). She is a member of Australian Psychological Society and a Member of the College of Counselling Psychologists. She is registered with Australian Health Professionals Registration Assoc.
