Shelby Hartley

Psychologist

BSc(Hons) Psychology MAPS 

Shelby is a genuine, warm and empathic therapist with a focus on developing a strong therapeutic relationship with clients. She has a non-judgemental, welcoming and friendly approach.

 

Shelby is a registered Psychologist with 10 years of experience in mental health across a variety of settings, including hospitals, government services and private practice.

 

Shelby completed her psychology degree in the UK where she was born and raised. She moved to the Sunshine Coast, Australia in 2019.

 

Shelby enjoys working across the life-span, with a particular interest in working with children, adolescents, young adults and parents. Shelby’s skills and experience can support individuals with the following issues (but not limited to):

  • Anxiety disorders (including separation anxiety)

  • ADHD

  • Depression

  • Adjustment issues

  • Stress

  • PTSD

  • Trauma

  • Grief and loss

  • Parenting strategies

  • ASD

   

Shelby draws from a wide range of evidence-based psychological strategies to assist people of all ages in reaching their goals, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and attachment frameworks.

 

During her time off Shelby enjoys going to the beach with her two Labradors Bear and Indie, climbing mountains, swimming in the ocean, riding her motorbike, listening to podcasts or music, and meeting her friends for coffee.

Shelby works Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at our Sippy Downs clinic.

Qualifications:

 

Shelby completed her psychology degree at the University of Northhampton in the UK. She holds general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Association (MAPS).
