Michele Guy

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

Michele is a very skilled and compassionate practitioner. She is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and holds a Masters degree in Mental Health Practice. Michele's breadth of knowledge allows her to assess and treat a wide array of complex issues, including mental health disorders. Michele draws from over 10 years of experience providing emotional and practical support to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are facing issues such as:

 

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Adjustment issues

  • Stress

  • PTSD

  • Trauma

  • Grief and loss

  • Psychosis

  • Family issues

  • Parenting strategies

  • Domestic and family violence

This experience has been gained from working in private practice and not-for-profit organisations with complex families at risk in the community. Michele uses her knowledge and experience to resolve presenting psychological problems, associated social and other environmental problems and improve quality of life.

 

Michele’s services come under the banner of the Medicare Better Access Scheme, which means her clients can claim a Medicare rebate if they have a Mental Health Care Plan referral from their GP. 

 

Michele has a special interest and experience working with victims/survivors of domestic and family violence.  She is passionate about working to create a safer place for all people, social justice, and the rights of every individual to a life filled with safety, inclusion, knowledge and connectedness. Michele aims to assist each person she works with to achieve these things in life. She has training and experience working with the David Mandel Safe and Together Model and the Duluth Model.

 

Michele works from a trauma-informed, feminist, client-centred, strengths-based approach whilst utilising a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and focused psychological strategies. Michele uses her skills and knowledge to work with her clients collaboratively to establish their goals and work through issues that are affecting their well-being. 

 

Michele works at both our Sippy Downs (Thursdays) and Caloundra clinics (Fridays).

Qualifications:

 

Michele has completed a Bachelor of Social Work (BSWK), and a Master of Mental Health Practice (MMHPrac). She is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) and a Member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (MAASW). Michele is a 1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching Facilitator and a Registered Circle of Security Parent Facilitator.
