A comprehensive autism assessment typically takes 4-6 hours across multiple appointments. This includes a 1 hour initial consultation, observation session, interviews with family members, and report writing. The process is spread over several weeks to ensure thorough evaluation.

Assessment costs vary depending on the complexity and tools required. We provide detailed fee information during your initial consultation and can discuss payment options. Some private health insurance funds may provide partial rebates, we recommend contacting your private health insurer to discuss what you're covered for.

No referral is required for private autism assessments, you can book directly with our team. However, if you're seeking Medicare rebates, a GP referral may be beneficial.

An Autism diagnosis is most reliable from 5 years and above. There is no upper age limit - many adults seek assessment later in life for better self-understanding.

Please bring:

• Any previous assessments or reports

• Any previous pediatrician or psychiatrist reports

• School reports or work performance reviews

• Developmental milestone records

• Examples of behaviours or interests

• List of current medications

• Photo ID and Medicare card

If autism criteria aren't met, we can explore alternative explanations for your concerns. This might include other neurodevelopmental conditions, learning differences, or recommendations for further assessment.

NDIS doesn't cover the cost of the assessment however our comprehensive reports are suitable for NDIS applications and plan reviews. We can provide detailed recommendations for supports and services that may be funded through NDIS.

Absolutely. Many adults seek diagnosis after recognising autism traits in themselves or their children. Adult assessment follows the same rigorous process with age-appropriate tools and considerations.
