ADHD testing on the Sunshine Coast

A comprehensive ADHD assessment typically takes 2-4 hours, often spread across multiple appointments, this includes interviews, testing, and report preparation. Typically split between face-to-face appointments and online questionnaires that can be completed in the comfort of your own home.

It is recommended to wait until 6 years of age to formally diagnose ADHD. We assess children, teens, and adults of all ages, however symptoms have to be present before 12 years of age.

Assessment costs vary depending on the complexity of evaluation needed. We accept private health insurance, Medicare rebates may apply, and NDIS funding is available for eligible participants.

You do not need a referral from your GP to pursue ADHD testing, though having one can be beneficial. Please contact us to discuss your individual situation and any specific requirements.

The ADHD assessment involves in-depth interviews about your symptoms and medical history, standardized questionnaires, and possibly cognitive testing. Family members or close contacts may also be interviewed to provide additional insights.

After receiving an ADHD diagnosis, you'll be provided with personalized recommendations in accordance with Australian treatment guidelines. These may include allied health support, such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, or psychological services, along with coaching, medication consultation, educational accommodations, or workplace adjustments tailored to your specific needs.

Many private health insurance plans cover a portion of your psychological assessment. We recommend contacting your private health fund to determine what you're covered for. Medicare rebates may apply with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.

When conducted by qualified psychologists using evidence-based tools, ADHD assessments are highly accurate. We use multiple assessment methods to ensure reliable diagnosis.

ADHD cannot be cured, as it is a lifelong condition. However, with appropriate support, strategies, and, in some cases, medication, individuals with ADHD can effectively manage symptoms and thrive in all aspects of life.
